This strategy identifies stocks showing strong bullish momentum after a pullback by combining price strength, volume and EMA confirmation.
Strategy Description
Scanner Conditions
- Latest tick close price is above the latest tick open price, indicating buying pressure on the current tick.
- Latest tick volume is higher than the previous (P-1) tick volume, showing rising interest from buyers.
- Current tick volume is greater than the 50-tick average volume, confirming strong participation.
- Close price above the 9-period EMA on the latest tick, indicating immediate bullish momentum.
- Close price is also above the 20-period EMA, showing short-term and intraday trend direction.
- Price has bounced from the 9 EMA at least once within the last 3 ticks, with price staying within 0.5% of the EMA, confirming the EMA as a strong support.
Additional Considerations
- Timeframe: Works best on 1-minute to 5-minute ticks for intraday scalping.
- Ideal Market Sessions: Most effective during 9:20–10:30 AM and 1:45–3:00 PM.
- Avoid Choppy Markets: Skip trades where price repeatedly crosses the 9 & 20 EMA.
- Volume Confirmation: Monitor volume closely - Momentum is trustworthy when supported by good average volume.
- Avoid Sudden Spikes: If there’s a huge price move in the last two to four ticks, stay cautious as volatility may fade quickly.
